One person should not gain more influence by appearing as a hundred people. And proving that you exist should not expose your identity to everyone who needs to check it. Umahn addresses those needs together.

Umahn explores methods for establishing distinct human participation while keeping identifying information private. The aim is a checkable proof of personhood that can be used across the system.

Humanity, identity and reputation

Umahn’s direction includes a portable reputation record: what you contributed, the evidence, who reviewed it and any challenge or correction. Reputation is specific to a skill or context, not a score of someone’s worth. Personhood, payment and governance weight answer different questions. Recovery, consent and appeals must let people carry useful history without exposing their whole lives.

Now: Identity commitments and an initial vouching approach are in development.
Next: Test personhood, recovery and a contribution record with scoped ratings, independent review and appeals. Reputation and governance issuance are not open.

Umahn grounds participation in distinct humans. SOS Systems defines the protections and governance around that participation; Otto and the other organs can use the proof without treating it as a complete personal profile.
